WE SPENT TIME WITH SHANTI DEVI, ONE OF THE MOST RENOWNED ARTISTS OF THE MADHUBANI PAINTING STYLE. DATING BACK CENTURIES, THE ART FORM IS CHARACTERIZED BY INTRICATE LINEWORK AND VIBRANT COLORS, AND SHOWCASES FAMOUS SCENES FROM HINDU MYTHS.

On assignment for The New York Times, we interviewed Shanti Devi about her work and the tradition she is helping keep alive, and filmed her at work in her home in 360 degrees, giving the world an intimate work into a beautiful art form.
